PC vs PS5

Which PC parts match the PS5 for GTA 6?

For the graphics, the Radeon RX 6700 (10 GB) R source; for the processor, the AMD 4700S desktop kit R source. Those two parts are the 100 on our scale. The PS5 runs GTA 6 at 30 fps R source, rendered at native 1440p, upscaled to 4K R.

Why these two parts stand in for the PS5

Digital Foundry calls its specs "extremely close" to the PS5 and matched settings between the two in seven games, with the RTX 2070 Super as a second stand-in. A pointer for comparison, not a claim that the two perform the same in every game. An 8-core Zen 2 chip with its graphics disabled, which Tom's Hardware concluded is almost certainly a defective PS5 chip. AMD declined to comment. On our scale the nearest card to the PS5 apart from the RX 6700 itself is the RTX 2080, at 101.

Matching the console is not the same as matching its result. A PC version runs on Windows and a graphics driver, without the fixed hardware a console game is tuned for, so we only call a PC part above the PS5 with a 30 % lead. The methodology page explains that margin.

The PS5 Pro

Digital Foundry matched the PS5 Pro's graphics with two desktop cards: GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB and Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB, slightly ahead of the console R source. For GTA 6 it does not expect much from the Pro: 60 fps unlikely: the Pro adds GPU power, not processor power R source. The reason is the processor, which the Pro barely changes.
