GTA 6 on PC: questions and answers

Short answers about the PC release date, system requirements, frame rates, RAM, video memory, laptops and the Steam Deck. Every answer is built from the figures in our data, so it updates when they do.

Can my PC run GTA 6?

Nobody can tell you yet: Rockstar has not announced a PC version or published requirements. What can be measured is how your PC compares with the PS5, which runs GTA 6 at 30 fps. A PC within 15 % of the console counts as close to it; a lead of 30 % leaves room for the extra cost of a PC port.

When is GTA 6 coming to PC?

Rockstar has not announced a date. GamesBeat reported a PC release in Q1 2027 (January to March), citing four anonymous sources; Rockstar did not comment. For scale, GTA V reached PC 19 months after the consoles and Red Dead Redemption 2 12 months after.

What are the GTA 6 PC system requirements?

Rockstar has published none, so any list you see now is a guess. Its last two PC releases are the best guide: Red Dead Redemption 2 recommended a GeForce GTX 1060 6GB and 12 GB of RAM, GTA V Enhanced a GeForce RTX 3060 8GB and 16 GB.

What frame rate will GTA 6 get on my PC?

Nobody knows, because nobody has run GTA 6 on PC. Any fps figure for a graphics card today is made up, so this site shows none. The consoles run it at 30 fps, and Digital Foundry expects 60 fps on PC to need a high-end processor, such as a recent Ryzen X3D.

What PC parts are equal to a PS5?

For the graphics, the Radeon RX 6700: Digital Foundry calls its specs extremely close to the PS5 and compared the two at matched settings. For the processor, the AMD 4700S, which Tom's Hardware concluded is a PS5 chip with its graphics turned off. Both are the zero points of our scale.

Can an RTX 3060 run GTA 6?

Compared with the PS5, the RTX 3060 scores 87 against the console's 100, which puts it close to the PS5. That comes from Tom's Hardware's 1440p ultra results. Its 12 GB of video memory is more than the cards GTA V Enhanced recommends. What it means in fps nobody can say before the PC version exists.

How much RAM will GTA 6 need on PC?

Rockstar has not said. Its last two PC releases asked for 8 GB at minimum and up to 16 GB in the recommended spec (GTA V Enhanced). The PS5 has 16 GB GDDR6 shared by the processor and GPU. With 16 GB you match the highest recent recommendation; 8 GB is the floor.

Is 8 GB of video memory enough for GTA 6?

It is what GTA V Enhanced recommends, and the bar our checker uses until Rockstar says more. It is already tight at high settings in new games: in Tom's Hardware's 1440p ultra tests the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB scores 143 on our scale against 153 for the same card with twice the memory.

Do I need an SSD for GTA 6 on PC?

Plan on one. GTA V Enhanced already requires an SSD at its minimum spec, and its recommended spec asks for a DirectStorage-compatible drive. The PS5 runs GTA 6 from a fast internal SSD. Expect the PC install to need about 180–300 GB, which is GTA6FileSize's estimate.

Can a gaming laptop run GTA 6?

Laptop graphics chips run slower than the desktop cards with the same name, so check yours by its laptop name. The RTX 4060 Laptop GPU, the most common laptop chip in Valve's Steam survey for September 2026, scores 94 against the PS5's 100: close to the PS5. Each laptop maker sets its own power limit, so a given model can land above or below that average.

Will GTA 6 run on the Steam Deck or ROG Ally?

Nobody knows until the PC version exists, but the graphics are far from the PS5's: the Steam Deck scores 16 and the Radeon 780M in the ROG Ally and Legion Go 25 on a scale where the console is 100. Expect, at best, much lower settings and resolution than on the console.

Why does the checker care so much about the processor?

Because Digital Foundry expects GTA 6 to be limited by the processor: the PS5 Pro gains little over the base PS5 for exactly that reason. So the checker takes the weaker of your two parts, and a fast graphics card cannot lift a slow processor to "above the PS5".

How the overall level is set

What do the C, R and E badges mean?

C means an official source confirms the figure: Rockstar, Sony, Microsoft or a manufacturer. R means a publication reported it, often from its own measurements. E means an estimate: a conversion between two sources, a formula or our own working assumption, explained on the methodology page. Every number links to its source.
